I’m not really a fan of “Worst of” type lists, but there are exceptions to most things, and this sits very firmly at the top of my list of “Most overrated 3D” movies. There must be something about it that makes people think that its very mild 3D is fantastic, and I can only put it down to visual cues that suggest 3D, albeit not stereoscopic 3D. The reason I waffle on about this film probably far more than is necessary is that I find it genuinely fascinating how often it’s been cited as having great 3D. For my money, any film that has to resort to using 2D in order to emphasise its 3D is doing something wrong. But they bungle that “brilliant” idea by putting some of the opening real world shots in 3D anyway.! Odd. For me, the only way this film uses 3D to support the story-telling is by making the real world 2D and the Grid 3D.
